Flagstaff YMCA

When Best Buy store 1084 opened in 2007, the community was short on gathering places for teens and the proposed YMCA was still in the planning stages. The YMCA stands for youth development, healthy lifestyle and social responsibility - a great match for @15, Best Buy's focus on empowering teens. This @15 Community Grant supports the college resource center that provides high school students with mentoring, inspiration for post-secondary education and resources for financial aid. The program serves students in the greater Flagstaff community, including three Native American reservations of the Navajo, Hopi, Yavapai and Apache tribes. Best Buy employees at all levels, from Geek Squad Agents to the General Manager of the store, volunteer with the YMCA to offer their expertise in addition to financial support.

Florida Sherriffs Youth Ranches Inc.

Florida Best Buy stores have a deep and ongoing relationship with the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches because their mission, vision and values are a great match with our commitment to supporting teens. The Sheriffs Youth Ranch vision is to support young men and women to face the future with a sense of direction, ability and hope. Their mission is to prevent delinquency and develop strong lawful, resilient, and productive citizens who make a positive contribution to our communities. Best Buy employees volunteered their time and energy to paint buildings at the Safety Harbor Ranch and Boys Ranch which led to a TagTeam Award donation. In addition, Best Buy hosted two Geek Squad Summer Academies for three days of hands-on computer and technology training. Best Buy store 561 is proud to support this organization with an @15 Community Grant.

Empower Me Day Camp

Empower Me Day Camp was established by a group of pediatric therapist to address the lack of adequate opportunities for children with disabilities. Youth learn how to use technology to communicate, building confidence and learning presentation skills by sharing their story with others. Best Buy in Nashville partners with the organization through employee WOLF and Willow teams who recently volunteered at the camp. Best Buy store 1064 is proud to support this organization with an @15 Community Grant.

Tri-State Education and Technology Foundation

The Tri-State Foundation, housed at the Drake Planetarium and Science Center, is a landmark that provides children with fun educational opportunities in science and technology. A recent addition is a rooftop Weatherbug station that serves up meteorology lessons to youth while providing a live weather feed to home computer users. Thanks in part to an @15 Community Grant from Best Buy store 494, the planetarium has nearly doubled its annual attendance.

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Piedmont

The mission of the Boys & Girls Club is to provide a safe, welcoming, caring and fun place for children ages 6-18 to learn life skills necessary to excel academically, and grow personally, physically, and socially into responsible and productive individuals. With support from Best Buy store 1133 and an @15 Community Grant, the club will host a Teen Entrepreneur Program. Students who are aspiring entrepreneurs will develop a business plan, learning to creatively compete while introducing a unique product or service to the marketplace.

4 Paws for Ability

The goal of this program is to take the "dis" out of disability by providing highly trained, personalized service dogs to help children live more independent lives so they can better contribute to society when they reach adulthood. 4 Paws service dogs fundamentally change and shape the way children and their families live and manage their disabilities. For example, a child who suffers from seizures will now be alerted in advance of his seizure by the 4 Paws service dog. The dog or child can then alert his or her parents and treatment can be started to mitigate the damages seizures cause. Best Buy employees at store 266 have a personal connection with this organization and are proud to support it with an @15 Community Grant.

Friends of Deckers Creek

This organization is making waves in environmental education by working with its Youth Advisory Board to lead a project called Watershed Awareness through Volunteers in Education. The program will increase knowledge of storm water pollution and solutions, reduce litter, increase recycling, improve scientific knowledge of the Deckers Creek watershed, and increase community awareness of local environmental issues. Youth will also improve their communication and leadership skills while becoming more engagedin their community. Best Buy store 832 is proud to be a friend of Deckers Creek.
